Life in higher education is complex enough without adding construction difficulties to the mix.
Walbridge has earned an advanced degree in getting complicated on-campus jobs done right with less stress and angst.
Through experience, we’ve added value to higher education construction projects across the nation.
From highly technical medical colleges and aeronautical spaces to residence halls built using modular construction.
Learn a little more about some of our projects:
1855 Place
Michigan State University
A mixed-use facility on a college campus?
Highlighting both our work in commercial and higher education, 1855 Place at Michigan State University provides an incredible living, learning and working opportunity.
It’s a vibrant mix of residential units for graduate students, retail space, parking, and university offices in an ideal East Lansing location.
Ross School of Business
University of Michigan
It’s a training ground for tomorrow’s top global business leaders.
Walbridge orchestrated the demolition of a building, removal of hazards, construction of new spaces, and delivery and installation of stylish materials from Germany and China.
Beyond that, we moved a 250-year-old Burr Oak tree using an innovative system of air bladders, keeping the historical feel on the campus.
MicaPlex Advanced Aerodynamics Lab
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
The MicaPlex, named for U.S. Rep. John Mica, is a modern-day candy store for students and faculty studying aerodynamics and engineering.
It includes a Large Systems Room, which required us to build extra-thick walls and floor to handle heavy duty reaction testing.
It’s the first component of a research park expected to draw major aerospace companies to Daytona Beach, Fla.
Homer Stryker M.D. Medical School
Western Michigan University
Like a skilled surgeon, Walbridge trimmed away 60 percent of the interior of a 30-year-old building in order to construct a stunningly modern facility.
On the outside, this former home of a pharmaceutical maker was transformed into one of downtown Kalamazoo’s iconic structures.
Today, it’s an award-winning, state-of-the-art medical school, named after medical technology pioneer Homer Stryker.
