2018: A Year In Review

It’s been a crazy year, hasn’t it?

From the new construction, closing out projects, working with clients, subcontractors or vendors, ending your career or, maybe just starting it, we’ve all had our own 12 months of change, improvement and growth.

That was just one of the scenarios presented to children with parents who work at DFM Solutions.

The children provided exceptional responses and drawings, identifying key safety concepts that they could incorporate on a daily basis.

Innovation on construction sites is happening daily.

Looking for an example? Search no farther than Walbridge’s paperless job site.

With a 60-inch touch screen, a Walbridge Southeast team worked toward innovation directly in the job trailer and it allowed for instant drawings to be viewed by the owner, A/E, and subcontractors.

Some of Walbridge’s veterans opened up about Memorial Day and what it means to them.

“As Americans, the most tangible thing we can do on Memorial Day – and every other day – is to live our lives in a manner that honors the sacrifice of so many that came before us,” said Superintendent Jon Molnar.

July

With 500,000 to 1 million hours worked without a DART case, Walbridge was named a 2018 Thomas J. Reynolds Award Winner for Construction Safety and Health.

The annual award is given by The Association of Union Constructors to “recognize and comment the exceptional efforts made by members to prevent the occurrence of serious injury – or worse – on the jobsite.”

Success is never final, Failure is never fatal, But it is courage that counts.

Don Greenwell, Jr. gave a fond farewell to his colleagues after 35 years at Walbridge.

With vivid memories of the company’s growth and projects that remain in his mind, he talked about the virtues that have helped make the company successful.

With an impressive “layer cake” look, Walbridge successfully renovated the exterior of Old Tampa City Hall in Florida.  

Build in 1915,  work included repairing brickwork, granite and ornate terracotta balustrades and cornices.

Walbridge apprentice identification program red tapeNovember

Utilizing a simple stripe of red tape, Walbridge is improving safety for apprentices new to the job.

The company’s Red Tape Apprentice Identification program identifies new workers in an effort to improve on-site safety as well as promote learning on jobs as well.

This effort helps apprentices learn Walbridge’s practices and procedures on projects as well as understand why they are important.
