As the weather gets colder and the holiday season is here,
we can’t help but look back on the successes of the past 12 months.
We couldn’t have done that without you – so from the bottom
of our hearts, a humble thank you to our customers, subcontractors, vendors and
dedicated employees.
For the 2019 holiday season, we want to showcase how our teams have given back because it’s important to them and to our entire company.
So take a look at just a few of the ways we are making an impact:
A Year of Giving
Company-wide
Walbridge is committed partners to the communities in which we work and live in.
Our team shows that relentless commitment every day but in 2019, there were a few special ways that our teams made an impact.
BN 9-13 Coat, Charity Drive
Boydton, Virginia Our BN 9-13 team in Boydton, Virginia went above and beyond this holiday season giving back to a local community that has given us so much. With the guidance of our women in construction council and backing of the entire project team, a coat and warm weather clothing drive was initiated to support two local charities in need. The result was the collection of more than 200 new coats, gloves and hats that were donated to the Tri-County Community Action Agency Head Start program for children ages 3-5, as well as the Christmas Parent Program which operates under the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Salvation Army. It brings us joy knowing that our customer’s trust in Walbridge has afforded us the opportunity to provide the gift of warmth this holiday.
Walbridge Giving Tree
Detroit, Michigan When an opportunity to help comes our way, our team is active immediately. Through the United Way For Southeastern Michigan, Walbridge worked with Starfish Family Services to give five local families an extra special holiday. These families asked for roughly 75 gifts, ranging from dolls to sweaters to keep warm. Within 8 hours of the Giving Tree with specific gifts being up in our Detroit office, all the tags were taken. In total, more than 115 gifts were donated by our employees to help out these families and each family received a box full of household items, including toothpaste, toothbrushes and cleaning supplies.
Children’s Cancer Center Adoption
Tampa, Florida
Every year our team adopts a family and collects donations to fulfill their Christmas wish lists. This year, the team supported a family of five. The team purchased all sorts of items to make the holidays extra special for all of them.
Cristo Rey Robotics
Detroit, Michigan
Walbridge continued its support of Detroit Cristo Rey FIRST Robotics. Employees have spent extra time helping them in a marketing/business development and engineering capacity since 2018.
Friendship House For Children With Cancer
Mexico
Our Mexico office collected gifts for the Casa de la Amistad para niños con cancer, supporting area children with cancer.
Kalamazoo Communities in Schools – Bundle Up
Kalamazoo, Michigan
Walbridge Midwest supported Communities In Schools (CIS) of Kalamazoo during its 2019 CIS Ugly Sweater Party which collected “Bundle Up” boxes. CIS helps students with items to support them attend school “with confidence and dignity, ready to learn.”
Alabama Food Drive
Huntsville, Alabama
Debra Liwienski, our administrator for our project in Hunstville, Alabama, organized a food drive to support Manna House, a Huntsville food bank. With participation from our entire team and many of our subcontractors the team collected more than 1,000 food items. Project Coordinator Devon Billingsley delivered the food to Manna House which helped support about 100 families in the Huntsville Area.
Detroit Rescue Mission Coat Drive
Detroit, Michigan
For years, our team gathers up gently-used coats, hats, mittens and other winter gear to donate to the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministry, which provides support ranging from emergency shelter to job training. Every day, the organization supports the lives of more than 1,800 men, women and children.
