Walbridge and joint venture partner Bartlett Cocke teamed to complete on-site Tier One Supplier facilities for Toyota Tsusho after successfully constructing a major portion of Toyota’s San Antonio Assembly Plant.
Toyota’s project site was designed to locate 18 Tier One suppliers. The Toyota Tsusho project consisted of seven suppliers housed in five buildings: Steel Center, Green Metals Building, ARC Building, Tenneco Building and Office Building. The project scope consisted of pre-engineered metal building systems, overhead crane systems, pits for presses and conveyors, rail spurs, as well as supporting mechanical, fire protection and electrical systems.
The main Steel Center is used to cut blanks from steel coils to be pressed into vehicle components and sub-assemblies. One building is used as an office for suppliers, another is where exhaust systems are manufactured, and the final two buildings are recycling centers.
Our additional Tier One Supplier work on-site included construction of traditional industrial buildings used to manufacture fuel tank systems by Kautex and a metal component electro-coating facility operated by MetoKote, all for Toyota vehicles.
