Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America selected Walbridge and joint venture partner, Yates Construction, to serve as general contractor for the Toyota Blue Springs Assembly, Weld and Shop Offices project.
The $40.7 million project brought the first automotive greenfield assembly facility built by Toyota in Mississippi and the eighth of its kind in North America. The green field site is nearly 1,700 acres. Excavation of the site began in March 2008 and peaked with more than 2,000 construction workers by mid-summer that same year. The plant produces the Toyota Prius with an annual vehicle capacity of 150,000 units.
