Located on approximately 13 acres, the Drivability Test Facility (DTF) simulates a variety of trials normally conducted on test tracks all over the world. When fully maximized, the DTF is able to simultaneously conduct six different test scenarios in one location.
At the time of its construction, it was the only facility in the world to offer state-of-the-art aerodynamics, environmental and acoustic testing in one location. Walbridge managed construction of the test building and test support systems engineered by Albert Kahn Associates, and Sverdrup Technology was the project’s turnkey supplier. Walbridge managed construction of the test building and test support systems engineered by Albert Kahn Associates, and Sverdrup, a turntable room/transfer area; a non-altitude quick cool/warm-up dyno room, central fuel storage/fueling garage and general support office areas.
In 2005, Walbridge returned to the DTF to complete a snow/cold upgrade to the Node 7 wind tunnel and soak rooms.
