Walbridge provided heavy-rigging and setting services for six major pieces of equipment located at PPL’s combined-cycle, co-generating power plant in Mount Bethel, PN. Walbridge Industrial Process professionals designed custom lifting schemes and engineered rigging procedures to offload, transport, set and install the equipment.
The Mount Bethel plant is a 628-megawatt natural-gas-fired facility that occupies a 750-acre site in eastern Pennsylvania. The combined-cycle combustion turbines burn natural gas, which generates power and produces steam that’s directed to a steam-powered turbine to generate additional power. This design, in combination with the use of natural gas, produces minimal environmental impact.
