Paul R. Smith Middle School was built within a six-building campus in Holiday, Fla., made up of several single-level buildings and one two-story building connected by covered walkways.
The $16 million Smith Middle School project included baseball/softball, football, soccer and track fields; classrooms, computer labs and media center with leading edge technology; and a gymnasium with retractable stadium seating.
A separate facility was built onsite to house 2,250-ton cooling towers and a chiller system, generator, fire pump, the main electrical distribution and power switches. The project was constructed on an accelerated schedule and involved a phased move-in.
