Kaiser Aluminum decided to construct its brownfield Aluminum Casting and Extrusion Facility in multiple phases. Walbridge served as construction manager for Phase I, which included the installation of a casting facility and two press and excursion lines, complete with related process support equipment.
The plant was constructed in the old 450,000-square-foot General Motors Fisher Body Metal Stamping Plant, which Kaiser leased. Walbridge’s scope of work included hiring and furnishing professional engineering and design services for the civil, structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical aspects of the project; as well as managing equipment installation requirements.
