One of America’s most iconic vehicles, the Chevrolet Corvette, is built in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Walbridge was contracted by Gallagher-Kaiser Corporation to design-build a new paint shop at the Chevrolet Corvette Assembly Plant complex.

Approximately 4,200 tons of steel were placed for the roughly 450,000-square-foot building.

Substantial upgrades

Corvette production began at the plant in 1981. In May 2009, the 1.5 millionth Corvette was built there. The new paint facility includes substantial technology upgrades and Walbridge scheduled construction to accommodate early installation of some process equipment.

It is one of the most-aggressive start-up schedules for a paint shop in the history of Walbridge’s work for Gallagher-Kaiser. The facility is scheduled for completion in early 2017.
