Donating the Tools To Learn: ’12 Days of Giving’ Helps Cristo Rey Students

Detroit Cristo Rey High students came in with smiles, excitement and ready for another day of learning.

On Monday, Dec. 18, Walbridge concluded its “12 Days of Giving” just as the special holiday event started – with a special breakfast for the more than 300 students and teachers at the school.

School administrators and teachers find serving breakfast before school helps students walk into classrooms more attentive and ready for the day.

The “12 Days of Giving” campaign was a way Walbridge gave back to its community, one of its core values. During each day, a different gift given to Cristo Rey students and teachers was showcased.

The 12 Days were:

  • Day 1 (Dec. 1) – Hot breakfast for students, staff
  • Day 2 (Dec. 4) – TI-84 Graphing Calculators, compasses and protractors
  • Day 3 (Dec. 5) – Art drawing boards
  • Day 4 (Dec. 6) – Chemicals for chemistry classes
  • Day 5 (Dec. 7) – Math posters with equations
  • Day 6 (Dec. 8) – Highlighters/Index Cards for Latin classes
  • Day 7 (Dec. 11) – Algebra tiles
  • Day 8 (Dec. 12) – “The Illustrated Man” novels for classes
  • Day 9 (Dec. 13) – Folders, Cork Board, Fidget Spinners, Stress Balls for college applications, counseling
  • Day 10 (Dec. 14) – “The Lamb’s Supper” and a Map of the Middle East during biblical times
  • Day 11 (Dec. 15) – “The Time Machine” by H.G. Wells
  • Day 12 (Dec. 18) – Hot breakfast for students, staff

Donations also provided new uniforms for the high school’s track team.

Walbridge members served breakfast at Detroit Cristo Rey High School to kick off and conclude the “12 Days of Giving.”

In previous years, Walbridge has purchased a gift basket of food or trinkets to valued customers. This year, Walbridge used that money to give back, creating the “12 Days of Giving.”

The goal is simple: Give a little bit back to the community in thanks of our clients, partners and teams across the globe.

Detroit Cristo Rey provides an innovative model of education that allows students to not only learn at a high level in the classroom, but also through a Corporate Work Study Program, students gain work experience that helps provide on-the-job learning. The college-preparatory school focuses on students from economically disadvantaged families and provides them with exceptional course-work and a work-study program.

Over the last four years, Walbridge has supported several students through the work-study program. The students have worked in various departments, learning skills from IT to marketing.

As 2017 comes to a close and we look forward to the new year, Walbridge must give a special thank you to all those people who made this year so special.

Without you, we couldn’t support this wonderful cause.

Happy Holidays,

Walbridge
