DETROIT, Mich. – Ensuring a welcoming, safe and inclusive workplace is a Core Value at Walbridge.
Earlier this year the company reaffirmed this commitment by joining the Associated General Contractors of America’s Culture of CARE initiative.
By signing the Culture of CARE pledge, Walbridge is committed to advancing construction as “the industry of choice for diverse and talented workers by building inclusive work environments in construction firms nationwide.”
The focus of the initiative focuses on:
COMMIT
to hire and pay based on skill and experience regardless of ability, age, ethnicity, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation
ATTRACT
prospective employees by creating inclusive workplaces that are free from harassment, hazing and bullying
RETAIN
high-performing employees by identifying and removing barriers to advancement
EMPOWER
every employee to promote a culture of diversity and inclusion
“Walbridge’s commitment is much more than just a signatory to this pledge,” says John Rakolta III, Walbridge’s Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. “We have dedicated teams to cultural inclusion throughout our organization and are earnest in our Culture of CARE planning through the development of a comprehensive initiative that we’ve already begun instituting.”
As part of Walbridge’s overall commitment to diversity and inclusion advancement, the company created a Cultural Inclusion Team, which will focus on the implementation and adoption of best practices. CEO Mike Haller also committed the organization to CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ to work with 1,300 other businesses on best practices.
Walbridge Vice President and Buildings Group General Manager Andy Wasiniak leads the Culture of CARE initiative within Walbridge – a team that has already come to the table with ideas and measurable suggestions.
“As we joined, our team was already identifying action plans to spread this message across the company and within the industry,” he said. “As an organization, we’re dedicated to action and results – that includes the Culture of CARE.”
