DETROIT, Mich. – Construction work done by Walbridge in 2016 is being recognized for its safety success.
The Associated General Contractors of Michigan gave Walbridge a Michigan Outstanding Safety Performance Award for general contractors on Friday, Feb. 24.
The safety award is determined by comparing injury incident rates of each company. The injury incident rate is based on the number of injury cases experienced during the award year, as it relates to the total amount of work hours generated.
“The award shows the focus of teams at all our construction sites,” said Mark LaClair, Assistant Vice President of Walbridge’s Safety, Health & Environmental Department. “Our goal is to keep everyone aware and using safety processes, each and every day.”
Walbridge was given the Gold Award in Division V, based on more than 500,000 work hours.

- Zero Incidents
- Zero Tolerance for Unsafe Behavior
Walbridge’s safety record in 2016 has many highlights, including receiving a Ford Excellence Award for demonstration of safety leadership.
The year also brought the Summer of Safety, a proactive challenge issued to 47 project sites throughout 11 states for hand safety. All teams completed the challenge, working 90 days without a recordable hand injury.
