How We’re Built – Community Engagement and Volunteerism at Walbridge

“Positively impact society through sustainability, promoting volunteerism and improving the welfare of others” – Walbridge Core Value.

It’s early morning on April 22 – Earth Day.

After a quick safety huddle, our team and trade partners get to work.

While construction is ongoing at the nearby jobsite, this team takes a few hours to walk several miles nearby and pick up trash alongside the roads.

With smiling faces, the team helps beautify the areas they drive past almost daily.

For over a century, Walbridge has positively impacted construction projects across the globe – and we’ve supported those communities.

Volunteerism and community engagement are skills we encourage in our team.

We add value to our customers and our communities.

The Right Thing To Do

Our project teams and offices actively plan donations, volunteer events and efforts to support local nonprofits or community endeavors.

It’s more than just a Walbridge attitude.

Many times, we’ve joined forces with our customers, subcontractors and the trades to make an impact. For one holiday season, we combined forces with a customer and partners to deliver gifts to more than 400 children near a job site.

The fact is, our teams are active in this for one reason: It’s the right thing to do.

Teams across the Walbridge enterprise have taken part in community engagement and support.
Our 2021 intern class designed duffle bags and filled them with hygiene kits, blankets and teddy bears for a nonprofit that supports youth in foster care.

Just a few other internal initiatives our employees have spearheaded include:

  • Working with nonprofits to clean up overgrowth in neighborhoods
  • Building bikes for Tampa-area students
  • Food drives at many job sites
  • Collecting hygiene items to support local nonprofits with immediate needs
  • Delivering back to school items during the COVID-19 pandemic, including 20+ computers so students in need could attend school virtually
  • Book drives for younger children
  • Coat, hat and glove collection for an area homeless shelter
  • Serving breakfast at a local school
  • Offering time and resources to local robotics programs

Walbridge teams care, we partner to deliver in both construction and community efforts.
