Sometimes you don’t know how much you share in common with a construction partner until they visit your office. Frank Zuckero and Kevin Clark of Zuckero & Sons visited Walbridge’s headquarters on June 6 and delivered a brief overview of the company to Walbridge’s Get Work team.
Clark, a project manager for the manufacturer of custom commercial furnishings, commented to his hosts, “I noticed your core values card on the wall on the way in here. You have a strong commitment to serving your customers and so do we.”
Zuckero, part-owner of the firm founded “in a garage” in Michigan by his father, provided details about some of the office, hotel, restaurant, and commercial interior work completed recently by the firm. Zuckero & Sons produces and installs millwork it fabricates for clients, which include Buddy’s Pizza, the Detroit Tigers, Taubman Centers, and Hyatt.
“We’ve worked in all 50 states and we work closely with all of our customers to make their dreams reality,” Zuckero said.
For Walbridge, Zuckero & Sons has completed work on three floors of an engineering center in southeast Michigan. The company fabricated desks utilizing butcher block surfaces, created work stations using Corian®, installed breakfast counters made of Cambria manufactured stone, and built and installed custom booth seating in a dining area.
One thing Zuckero & Sons brings to the job is the ability to review designs created by others and utilize its extensive experience to make improvements. Zuckero pointed out how his firm strengthened an office enclosure on the Walbridge project by adding aluminum inside in the corners. “Architects don’t always take all of the details into account,” he said.
Getting back to creating value for customers, Clark emphasized the importance of listening and then “putting into play everything we learn from the customer.
“We’re very big on coordinating the schedule, materials, and lead time,” he said. “We always aim to make this easy for our installers and our customers.”
