Walbridge served as general contractor on construction of the University of Michigan’s new 730-space Wall Street East Parking Structure, located between Maiden Lane and Wall Street near the Huron River in Ann Arbor. Construction of the new precast structure included roadway improvements and various environmentally-friendly features.

The parking deck is designed to be an attractive gateway to the Wall Street district and U-M Medical Center campus. It adds 530 net vehicle spaces to the university’s parking portfolio.

Landscaping surrounding the parking garage includes a rain garden to collect surface storm-water runoff. The garden is part of the structure’s comprehensive storm-water management system, designed to reduce the amount of runoff reaching the Huron River. A special snow-melt system, capable of melting 40 tons of snow per hour, was incorporated as part of the structure’s amenities. Featuring automatic shut-off and cool-down sequencing, water generated from the snow-melt system is routed through the storm system and out to the rain garden.
