Walbridge was selected by the City of Lakeland to perform terminal modifications at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. The $1.5 million project included converting existing general aviation terminal space into a commercial service aviation space. The existing first floor of the 14,600-square-foot building was completely renovated and the existing Fixed Base Operator (FBO) space, pilots’ lounge, and other facilities were removed. The space was replaced with new ticket counters, baggage screening, passenger screening, hold room space, baggage claim and various support facilities.

A single story open-air expansion was made on the southeast corner of the building to cover baggage belts. An enclosed single story expansion on the southwest side houses the departure area.

Lakeland Linder Regional Airport is a key part of the air transportation system of central Florida. Each spring, it hosts the annual six-day Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In event, one of the largest aviation events of its kind in America.
