An Office to Call Home

GreenPath Debt Solutions is a nationwide nonprofit that’s been helping customers mitigate personal debt and realize financial goals since 1961. In 2011, it hired Walbridge and joint-venture partner Ronnisch Construction to build a new headquarters in its home state of Michigan.

Creating Spaces that Cultivate Solutions

The Walbridge-Ronnisch Joint Venture built GreenPath a four-story, 125,000-square-foot office building that houses a parking garage, data center, full-service kitchen and onsite emergency generators. The building’s sustainable design makes it a contender for LEED® Silver certification through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and and Environmental Design program.

Challenges and Solutions

GreenPath’s headquarters was built on a 10.5-acre greenfield site situated adjacent to a Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation area. The project team followed best practices for soil erosion and pollution runoff control to ensure the preserved land would not be impacted by construction.

The new facility was turned over in phases before reaching full completion in September 2011. This allowed GreenPath to move employees into the new building as areas were completed. Construction wrapped up 15 months after it began.
