General Motors Corporation (DÜRR Industries) Delta Paint Shop

General Motors, DÜRR Industries
Lansing, Michigan

Walbridge was responsible for the construction of the new Delta Paint Shop under a tri-venture with Dürr and ACCO for General Motors. As a result of innovative pre-construction solutions – VA/VE initiatives and lean construction techniques – the Delta Program, having launched in 2004, was completed ahead of schedule.

Dürr, ACCO and Walbridge traveled to other paint shops to gain insight for the job and shared best practices and lessons learned – not only from individual experiences in previous years, but also from other GM paint shops projects.

The Delta Paint Shop integrated facility/process program managed 5,000 tons of steel, 5,675 cubic yards slab on grade (SOG), 6,771 cubic yards slab on deck (SOD), 295,000 square feet of roofing, 228,000 square feet of siding, 416 caissons and 4,395 cubic yards concrete.
