CTA’s Kentucky facility manufactures and supplies acoustical and thermal insulation products. In 2003, a tragic explosion destroyed much of the facility. At the recommendation of Ford Motor Company, one of CTA’s largest customers, Walbridge was hired for the rebuilding process.

Within three days of the event, equipment was salvaged and limited operations were resumed. At the same time, Walbridge assisted in a plan to build a new facility on a remote greenfield site.

During construction, the team overcame a number of challenges, including the relocation of a shale wall and an inordinate amount of rain. The complex includes two side-by-side, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and associated blend rooms, a warehouse, a new office building and worker areas – all under one roof. The 366,000-facility-foot facility was built in roughly five months.
