Delta Dental Selected as ENR ‘Best of Best’ Office Project

Date Posted: December 11, 2012

OKEMOS, Mich. – Walbridge will be recognized in the Feb. 11, 2013, edition of Engineering News-Record (ENR) for its expansion and renovation of the Delta Dental of Michigan Headquarters, which was selected as Best Office Project in ENR’s 2012 Best of the Best competition.

Walbridge submitted Delta Dental in the regional ENR-Midwest 2012 Best Projects competition, where it won Best Midwest Office Project of the Year and was honored at a Nov. 29 awards ceremony in Chicago. All regional winners were automatically submitted in ENR’s national Best of the Best Projects competition. Delta Dental was the only Midwest project to be selected for an ENR Best of the Best Award. Winners were announced in December.

The Delta Dental project involved renovating a 40-year old, 180,000-square-foot office building; constructing a new 82,000-square-foot office building and a new 22,500-square-foot remote data center; and enhancing a regional drainage system on the company’s 57-acre campus.

The project achieved LEED® Gold certification through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Program earlier this year. Albert Kahn Associates was the designer of the Delta Dental expansion and renovation.
