Walbridge was selected by the Panama City-Bay County Airport Authority for the New Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport terminal project. At the airport authority’s request, Walbridge worked with architect HNTB and engineer Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jerrigan to identify cost savings and improvements. Through value engineering, the construction team lowered the airport’s construction cost by $9.8 million.
The terminal complex includes a 125,000 square-foot, seven-gate terminal, a 148 foot air traffic control tower, a 16,000 square-foot public safety building, air cargo facility, air maintenance facility and a 3,000 square-foot utility building. The complex also features a taxi cab shelter and rental car area.
Designed to be the first LEED® certified terminal building in the nation, the terminal site has a state-of-the art storm water management system. Construction incorporated the use of sustainable materials and landscaping will not require supplemental irrigation.
