Federal Government
Walbridge’s general contracting and design-build experience with the federal government includes work for:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
The Exchange (formerly Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES))
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC)
The United States Postal Service (USPS)
Since 2006, Walbridge has completed or is currently working on 42 federal projects in 19 states worth a total value of $1.28 billion.
Our connection with the U.S. military can be traced back to one of our founders, George B. Walbridge. Colonel Walbridge served in the Army during the Spanish-American War. Later, in 1918 he surprised people in the construction industry when he resigned from Walbridge-Aldinger and accepted a commission as a major in the United States Reserve Engineers Corps. The Reserve Corps supported the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers throughout World War I.
We understand the technical requirements associated with government construction work and we create high-value solutions for our customers and the nation. Our experience includes construction of:
Vehicle and tactical equipment maintenance factilities;
Headquarters command and control facilities;
Operations facilities;
Brigade and security forces structures;
Shopping exchanges for military personnel, their families and retirees; and
Post Office bulk handling and shipping centers.
Our experienced staff is knowledgeable and collaborative, working as a team with our design and engineering partners to deliver quality-built projects on time and within budget. We are experts in utilizing Department of Defense Contractor Quality Management Systems and software. Safety is the first priority on all Walbridge projects. Walbridge has received recognition for its safety program and performance from multiple military entities, including recent awards from the Savannah and Ft. Worth districts of USACE.
Our corporate commitment to diversity and focus on small business contracting has led to development of a national network of subcontractors comprised of experienced small, veteran-owned and disadvantaged businesses. We work to fully incorporate these entities into our project solutions. Full-time Walbridge staff members are dedicated to reaching maximum participation by small, disadvantaged, veteran-owned and women-owned businesses.
Walbridge can meet federal environmental and technical needs as well. The Vehicle Maintenance Complex we built at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina is the first at that installation to earn LEED® Silver certification. We also built the large, LEED® Silver-certified Regional Support Command Headquarters and Armed Forces Reserve Center at Moffett Field in California. Walbridge works with the latest 3D, 4D and building information modeling (BIM) technology, and we are prepared to meet all project technical requirements.
Our lean construction approach utilizes Walbridge’s extensive “Lessons Learned” database
Walbridge passion for safety is the difference between enforcing compliance and active participation.
