Airports
Named the 12th largest airport contractor by Engineering News-Record, Walbridge is experienced in finding cost-effective ways to meet changing airport and passenger needs. The aviation industry has faced financial challenges, major changes in security and technological advancement while the number of passengers continues to grow with an estimated one billion air travelers predicted annually by 2015. To meet our customers’ growing need for state-of-the-art, efficient and secure facilities, we offer experience in terminal, security, hangar, fueling and deicing system, parking and maintenance facility construction.
In May of 2010, Walbridge became the first contractor in the United States to complete an airport terminal registered under the LEED® green building certification program. In addition to finishing the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport two months ahead of schedule, Walbridge saved the Panama City Bay County Airport Authority $9.8 million through value engineering. The airport features seven new facilities including a terminal building, air traffic control tower, public safety building and consolidated rental car building.
Walbridge recently completed the North Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW), one of the first terminals to be designed and built post-9/11. Walbridge performs infrastructure work including aprons, access roadways and tunnels surrounding airports. With the North Tunnel Project at Detroit Metro Airport, Walbridge poured a record-breaking 21,000 cubic yards of concrete in one day.
We’ve built airport related facilities throughout the United States and Mexico for airlines, airport authorities, rental car companies and more.
Walbridge passion for teamwork is the difference between a participant and a comrade.
