Safety
At Walbridge, safety comes first and it’s one of our core values. In fact, we have a motto that we live by:
“If it’s not safe, I won’t do it and I won’t let others do it.”
Every employee is entitled to work under the safest conditions. Walbridge is committed to safety at every level and has been the recipient of more than 100 national, local and project-specific safety awards in the past 10 years. In 2010, Walbridge received one national award and two major statewide awards in recognition of exceptional safety programs and practices. They are:
- (March 2010) The Willis Award from the Associated General Contractors of America for Construction Safety and Excellence (Building Division, 1 million – 4 million hours worked);
- (September 2010) The Star Award from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) Michigan Voluntary Protection Program for Construction (MVPPC.) This award represents superior safety performance at the University of Michigan Couzens Residence Hall Renovation Project;
- (September 2010) The MIOSHA Platinum Award, recognizing the company for “excellent safety and health performance,” including completing 7.08 million hours worked without a lost-time accident during a six-year period.

Walbridge has more than 50 full-time safety professionals dedicated to preventing jobsite incidents and promoting safety awareness. Nearly half of all Walbridge training programming is safety related. Additionally, all team members participate in a substance abuse testing program.
Founded in 1916, the company has grown steadily to become one of the top construction organizations in the country with over 700 full-time personnel.
